The Mecenates

Gaius Cilnius Maecenas (Arezzo, Italy, 68 BC - 8 BC) was born from an ancient Etruscan family and was a courageous visionary capable of forming a circle of intellectuals and poets of whom supported the most innovative works. Since then the name "mecenate" is used to indicate those persons who believe so much in the goodness of a particular idea, project or art, to partecipate in its realization by themselves.
